Class Information

Introduced 1924. Post-Grouping development of Fowler Midland design with reduced boiler mountings.
(a) Introduced 1922. Built for SDJR to Midland design. Taken into LMS stock in 1930. Former SDJR Nos. were 57-61 in same order.
(b) Temporarily converted to oil burning in 1947, then reconverted back.

LMS/BR Class 4F 0-6-0 No. 44188 at Woodford Halse Station on the Stephenson Locomotive Society (Midland Area) \'Farewell to the Stratford-upon-Avon and Midland Junction Railway Tour\' on 24 April 1965.

Trainspotters/Railway Enthusiasts can be seen milling around on the platform. Most of the young men are wearing the normal attire of the period; sports jackets or mackintosh and slacks. A number of younger boys are wearing short trousers.
