Note that all directions to sheds and works given below, are taken from The British Locomotive Shed Directory dated 1960. As most of the stations, sheds and works quoted are now closed, these directions must be taken in an historical context.
The last turn off the shed, the 18.50 hours Southport Chapel Street To Manchester Victoria, was worked by 45156 on Saturday 11th June 1966.The driver was Harry Langridge and the fireman was Owen Rimmer. After arrival at Manchester Victoria 45156 returned with the empty coaching stock of the outward working and went back on Southport shed. The loco was then photographed, presumably on Sunday 12th June 1966 (as it was daylight) with "Last Engine Off Southport Shed" chalked on the smokebox door.
