Introduction

In the old days if you wanted to keep track of locomotive allocations, withdrawals and sightings, the essential equipment was a pencil, notebook and an Ian Allan abc. Nowdays its much different, as the electronic abc has hit the sales stand in the form of PC TOPS. Needless to say it contains much more information than the humble abc, can store more of your personal data and generate numerous sorted reports.

PC TOPS is the most comprehensive system currently on the market and is aimed at the 'real enthusiast' who requires more than just Number, Depot, Sector & Livery information. All Modules except Wagon, Haulage & the Tops and Steam Photos, come preloaded with up-to-date data.

The system is broken down into 2 main sub-systems TOPS (Modern Traction) and Steam. The software has been developed specifically for the railway enthusiast, to keep an up-to-date database of railway traction and record sightings. The full system includes 30+ database files containing over 260,000 fields of information, which can be purchased either by sub-system or both together.

The PC TOPS Diesel and Electric sub-system consists of modules: Tops Loco, Unit, Coach, Wagon, Pre-Tops, Tops Photo and Haulage.

The Steam sub-system consists of modules: Steam Loco & Photo

Full descriptions and sample screens for every module and sub module are given on their own pages. Clicking on the small screen image on any page will display a full sized image of that screen.

Many of the data items are linked via database relationships. For instance, the LOCO Module uses codes, but comes with Depot, Sector and Livery databases which display the FULL Descriptions on screen via a code-description relationship - no need to rely purely on codes like other systems currently on the market!

You can either purchase the CD version for use on your own PC at home or opt to use the on-line system wher the data is always up-to-date.
