LNER Class Hill London & North Eastern Railway N7/1 0-6-2 Tank

Built 1925. Designed by A.J. Hill

Total Number Built 32 - Total to BR 32.

N7/1 Introduced 1925. Hill London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) design, rebuilt by Gresley. Post-Grouping development of Great Eastern Railway (GER) Class N7 with detail differences.

Rebuilt to Class N7/5 by BR.

A Total of 134 Class N7 engines were built, originally with Belpaire fireboxes, but all eventually received Gresley round-topped boilers.

Number Series 69623-69671 (with gaps - see Locomotive Numbers below).

During the mid-1950s 85 Class N7 engines were allocated to Stratford shed with more allocated to the Stratford district sheds of Hertford East, Bishops Stortford, Southend Victoria and Colchester.

All Class N7/1 locos were allocated to Stratford at Nationalisation in 1948.

Withdrawals began in 1958 and all had gone by 1962.

The first loco withdrawn was ??? on ??? from ??? shed.
The last loco withdrawn was ??? on ??? from ??? shed.

None are preserved.
