LNER Class Worsdell W North Eastern Railway J77 0-6-0 Tank

Originally Built 1874-84. Designed by E Fletcher. Rebuilt 1907-21 by Wilson Worsdell and Vincent Raven.

Total Number Built 60 - Total to BR 45.

Introduced 1901. Wilson Worsdell North Eastern Railway Class 290 rebuild of Fletcher NER BTP Class 0-4-4 Well Tanks (LNER Class G6) built by Neilson & Co. 1874-1884.

Some were rebuilt at York with round-cornered cab roof, others rebuilt at Darlington were given Worsdell cabs.

(a) Eleven locos rebuilt at Darlington by Worsdell W & Raven in 1921 had their frames lengthened and a new square-cornered cab roof and bunker fitted.

Number Series 68390-68441 (with gaps - see Locomotive Numbers below).

No Lot Nos. yet available.

The first loco withdrawn was 68441 on 11 June 1948 from Newport shed, Yorkshire.
The last loco withdrawn was ??? on ??? 1961 from ??? shed.
