Note the push-pull apparatus, including the two vacuum pipes as well as the steam heating pipe. This engine was only allocated to Upperby from late 1964 until closure in late 1966, along with a few other motor-fitted (pull & push) examples 41217/22/29. What services did they work? Built in late 1950, it spent the first part of tis life at Sutton Oak on the St. Helens motor services. From June until September 1953 it was at Rhyl helping out on the motor services in North Wales. It then went to Warwick, and then Leamington and Rugby sheds on the motor services in those areas, with just a brief interlude at Wrexham in late 1959. From July 1963 it was transferred to Oswestry, and subsequently to Llandudno Junction and then Upperby.
