EE Type 4 Class 40 40152 (D352) at Preston on 21 March 1983

Having run round the station on the reversible goods loop, Healey Mills HM allocated 40152 awaits a path, light engine up the WCML.

Built at EE Vulcan Foundry in July 1961 this loco was finally withdrawn on 21 Jan 1985 at Newton Heath following an unspecified failure. Unfortunately, its penultimate TOPS maintenance entry was just beforehand on 18/12/84 when it was withdrawn from service for a day for Inspection following a (FTL) fatal recorded incident at Cockshute, near Stoke on that date. It was finally scrapped in March 1985 at BREL Doncaster.
