EE Type 3 Class 37/0 37155 (D6855, 37897) at Newton on 26 April 1984

37155 piloted by 37137 take the connecting line to the up WCML towards Motherwell.

Built at EE Vulcan Foundry in July 1963 and first allocated to Swansea Landore depot, this loco saw service in Wales and Scotland over its 42 years service.

It misbehaved on 30 Aug 1966 when hauling a coal train off the Leven branch, it had a SPAD and was run into the carriage sidings, colliding with several dmus stabled there.

Converted to sub-Class 37/7 in Dec 1986 for freight duties, it received regeared bogies, a Brush alternator, added ballast weights, increased tractive effort and weight increased to 120 tons. This loco was withdrawn by EWS in July 2005 and intended for preservation. It went initially to Harry Needle in June 2006 but was eventually cut up at EMR Kingsbury in Feb 2008.
