BR Sulzer Type 2's No. D5226 D5227 D5228 at Darlington Works 1963

BR Sulzer Type 2's No. D5226 D5227 D5228 at Darlington Works 1963 - Low Resolution Image

BR Sulzer Type 2s Class 25 No. D5226, D5227 and D5228 under construction, standing in erecting shed at Darlington North Road Works on Sunday 21st July 1963. A trainspotter can be seen 'lurking' in the gangway connection of D5226.

D5226 was officially released into traffic on 23rd August 1963. It was later renumbered as Class 25 25076 under the Tops system. It was withdrawn from Carlisle Kingmoor shed on 12th November 1984. After withdrawal 25076 was stored at Bescot from November 1984 until moved to Swindon Works on March 27th 1985 where it was cut up in the middle of August 1986. The cabs were transported to Vic Berry, Leicester and later disposed of there.

D5227 was officially released into traffic on 2nd September 1963. It was later renumbered as Class 25 25077 under the Tops system. It was withdrawn from Haymarket shed on 6th May 1978 after being damaged by fire and cut up at BREL Springburn Works, Glasgow in September 1978.

D5228 was officially released into traffic on 13th September 1963. It was later renumbered as Class 25 25078 under the Tops system. It was withdrawn from Toton shed on 22nd September 1985, being noted dumped at Toton in November, and cut up at V Berry, Leicester in May 1987.
