All About Us

Colourlogo.jpg
The BATH CLASSIC MOTOR CYCLE CLUB was founded in 1987 by a handful of motorcycle enthusiasts keen to rekindle interest in British bikes in and around the Bath area. Since then the club has catered for a variety of classic bike interests.

Two or three of the original founders had been taking part in Pre-65 scrambles which at that time were often classic demonstrations at modern motocross meetings. However they could see the need for a club to specifically promote British bike scrambles and so Bath Classic Motor Cycle Club was born. Trials and road runs followed as a natural progression.

The club has over 350 members, with weekly meetings around the Bath area and plenty of road runs, shows, trials and scrambles to cater for everyone's needs.

Why not come along and join us - details on the meetings and events page.

Scrambles

Today the Club stages three scrambles a year catering for Pre-60, Pre-65 and Pre-74 machines, with an average entry of 60-90 riders of all ages and abilities.

Trials

Eight trials are organised for British bikes and foreign twin-shock machines throughout the year at a variety of venues. The average entry is 40-60 riders, again of all ages and abilities.

Road Runs

The club stages regular road runs that are open to all riders, although we obviously prefer older machinery. However, as long as the rider recognises the differences between the capabilities of classic and modern machines and rides accordingly he or she will be welcome - although you may find we try to convert you! Riders age and ability varies from ‘L’ plates to old hands.

Shows

A Club Stand with a variety of machinery will frequently be found at local Bike Shows. Members are encouraged to enter their bikes, with the stand acting as a focal point for all club members attending the events.

Membership

Club membership has grown steadily, now averaging around 350. Membership runs from January 1 to December 31, and only costs a tenner. Newsletters are published throughout the year.

Meetings

We meet formally on the second Wednesday of each month at Bath Trades & Labour Club, Green Park, Bath BA1 1HZ and occasionally we invite a guest speaker. We also hold informal pub meets each month for those unable to make the Bath meeting. At Christmas we hold a the Annual Christmas Bash/social evening with buffet supper and dance and prize winners presentation. The Club is affiliated to the AMCA and MAG. Over the years we have also raised many thousands of pounds in support of charities. If you would like to join us, whether it be competitive, social or just the fact that you like talking bikes, details and membership are available on the site.
